"Freedom of expression is the backbone of democracy and protects those who courageously stand up for human rights and counter authoritarian tendencies. The free and unhindered exchange of ideas and criticism allows abuses to be exposed, democratic debates to be kept alive and social developments to be reflected upon. Our association has a duty to protect these values and to stand up forcefully for human rights in Liechtenstein."

This is what VMR President Wilfried Marxer says in the editorial of the new monitoring report on the human rights situation in Liechtenstein, which was published today on the association's website (website). The annual report highlights the human rights situation in Liechtenstein. The current edition contains 53 recommendations for improving human rights and highlights the milestones the country has achieved in strengthening human rights over the past year.

In 10 chapters, interested readers can find background information on civil liberties such as freedom of expression, freedom of religion and corruption. We report on protection against violence, the inclusion of people with disabilities, the rights of particularly vulnerable groups such as children, refugees and LGBTQI+ people, and much more.

Take a look at the digital report and browse through the topics – we hope you find lots of useful information and interesting facts. If you want to know more, search for further topics on the association's website Website, subscribe to the Newsletter or follow the association on LinkedIn.
